I think they are separate platforms. The CGT was proposed LMP that never raced but was turned into a production car.

Sort of. The V10 in the Carrera GT started out being developed for a successor for the 911 GT1. Which according to wikipedia , the original V10 was actually built for Porsche by the Footwork F1 team.

Woah, I didn't even recognize it from that angle. The fenders seemed to blend in with the "hood" (or lack thereof) and it looked like a normal 911 with a root scoop and splitter.
